Once I had a dream: I saw you walking into my website at midnight, from one side to the other. You told me that you just ate a hamburger and, you waved at me with a diet coke in your hand. You said you want to see a show. I said I happen to have a show. Then we looked at each other, until now. 

 

My name is Yitong Zhu (朱奕同) and I’m an actor, dancer, and puppeteer. It’s always exciting to make things happen. As an actor, I like to explore the common humanity rather than politics that belong to a certain country. As a dancer, I believe every movement is dance and we all live in a state of oriented not knowing. As a puppeteer, I have a great passion playing with objects rather than specific puppets (although I can). I love making works that cross the line between genres.

 

Before 18 years old, I was trained to be a Chinese actor. Then I decided to pursue a BFA theater degree in the U.S. During my efforts toward getting into a theater school, I was exposed to dance and puppetry and fell in love with them ever since. Now I'm pursuing an MFA in dance close to NYC.
